Brick 05182012: Insanity Workout

Ya boy, Inky Mann getting my "swoll on"

Most everyone has a time where they work out because they want to look good. I’m in that phase right now. So, I’m doing the insanity work out with the wife.
Damn.
Mainly, at least from what I experienced, so far, the work out is aerobic. Stretches, running in place, jumping up and down and all around are moves these discs contain. There are highly intense moves and speeds. You sweat your buns off. I love it. I hate it. I’m glad my wife is doing it with me.
The program itself comes with a 2 month Workout calendar that includes 28 days of exercises, a week of recovery, then 27 days of higher intensity exercises. This is all for the sake of kicking your ass.
You start off with a Fit Test. This actually tests how much of the “basics” you can do. You record what you do to compare for the next time you’re scheduled to do the Test. We did this twice because we slacked a day. We actually excelled in the reps the second time around. That felt good.
The second disc has you doing a Plyometric Cardio Circuit, which seems to be the warm up exercises repeated and sped up as you do more sets. We did as much as we could with a little over 9 minutes left. I was trying to be a tough guy, knowing that this was killing me, when my wife actually asked to stop. I agreed before she got the words out!
The third disc is Cardio Power & Resistance. This one actually had people who were working with the instructor falling on the ground while trying to keep up. Granted, these people are in shape! Six pack abs, thick muscles, feminine curves are all in sight. Yet, they are STILL getting their asses kicked. I have abs that come from a six pack, so, you know I was hurtin’. We quit that disc with 12 and a half minutes left to go.
Even though we should have been through all the exercises at least once with rest on the seventh day, we have only done THREE DISCS!! We are still feeling the exercises to this day and at the time of writing this, we are 10 days away from when we started it. I feel old. We’ll be getting back into it. SOON.
Now, I don’t want you to think I’m complaining. I’ve been posting little things about it on my Facebook wall. I highly recommend this program if you’re trying to get fit. I will be finishing the program. I also have seen some results in that small time. My wife has lost a few pounds. It’s worth it.
You should try it, if you haven’t.  If you have, feel free to comment and let me know what you have done.
